I am a Spanish born pianist with an international concert and teaching career. I currently live in Bern, Switzerland

As a piano accompanist

I work as a piano accompanist with renowned singers, instrumentalists and conductors at international music festivals, masterclasses and competitions.

Some of my strongest skills are:

  • I have a natural talent for reading pictures that allow me to follow practically any repertoire without rehearsing it. This is useful if you are accompanying masterclasses and teaching regularly with singing teachers. I can read challenging works by composers like Debussy or Messiaen. This ability enables me to help singers in difficult situations. I remember jumping out of my afternoon nap and walking into the concert hall to help a master student at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music who was taking a master class with a renowned teacher from Opera Australia because the pianist (master student) was not was ready to play the repertoire.
  • Another important skill (which complements my ability to read pictures) is that I can prepare a full concert program in a short window of time (1 ~ 2 days). I remember a trumpet student who called me 2 days before his final exam for his Masters of Music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. His pianist fell ill, so you can imagine how desperate the situation was. The level of difficulty of the program was incredibly challenging and performed a selection of the most difficult contemporary works for piano and trumpet. The exam was so successful that one of the members of the panel (Steve Rosse, first tuba with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra) asked me to go to his tuba studio as an accompanist, which I did. Teach philosophy

I have gained experience as a college educator, as a mentor, role model and sometimes as an inspiration for those aspiring to both individual and ensemble careers, but also to broaden the horizons of those who only learn more about pianism as an asset to theirs Want to learn career knowledge of music.

In class, my fondness for fine details and nuances can lead to in-depth discussions and demonstrations of topics such as flexibility and shaping of phrasing, the precision of rhythm and articulation, expansion of the dynamic and colouristic range, a refined and sophisticated pedal technique, or exploration of a number of alternative and unorthodox ones Fingerings. At the same time, I try to arouse the curiosity and intelligence of my students by integrating the discussion of pianistic topics with underlying compositional themes such as voice guidance, counterpoint, harmonic outlines and motivic development.

Once technical problems are resolved and no longer affect a student’s language proficiency and the escape of musical imagination, I welcome the opportunity to delve into the deeper – intellectual, emotional, and spiritual – dimensions of music during the learning process.

This price is offered for lessons in my studio. In these cases, an additional fee will be charged (depending on the location).
